Always seeking to bring inspired designs to their condominium residences, The Daniels Corporation looked to Kirkor Architects and the famed Chicago School of Architecture for inspiration when they were creating the newest addition to their master planned community. The Chicago School refers to a style of architecture that was first seen in Chicago at the turn of the 20th century. This school, or style, often referred to as the pioneer of modern architecture, has amongst its disciples such well-known architectural giants as Dankmar Adler and Louis Sullivan. But perhaps its most notable contribution to the world of architecture was its use of steel frame construction which made the modern day skyscraper possible. The Chicago School is primarily known for its signature building – the skyscraper. Most skyscrapers designed in the Chicago style contain three distinct parts, similar to a typical classical column. The first floor represents the base of the column, the middle stories represent the shaft of the column and are usually free of ornamental design, and the top of the building represents the crown and usually include a decorative cornice. The "Chicago window" was also a common feature of the school’s design. The window typically was comprised of a centre, fixed glass plate and two side panels that could be opened for ventilation. This three panel effect created a grid pattern on the building which became another signature of the school..."
