Publisher's Note

Welcome to the premier issue of CondoMonde Magazine.  Our exciting stories, replete with gorgeous colour pictures, showcase a wonder for every reader. We have designed this magazine as an homage, a dedication to the world-wide innovators, the architects, developers, and builders who are responsible for creating the world’s most elite, inspirational, technologically advanced and environmentally responsible living-solutions.

Densely populated cities are facing a common problem: there’s simply nowhere left to build—or is there?  The sky is quickly becoming the place to which the truest innovators in home-building are looking to end urban sprawl and to protect of our environment.

Did you know that a 50-storey, 400 suite condominium building takes up the same footprint as just a handful of typical residential lots while housing more than 1000 people?  These high-rise residences eliminate the need for long commutes to work, provide great retail and grocery shopping options, are home to first-class entertainment and recreational facilities, and forge communities of people with similar lifestyles.  Did you know that some of the greatest environmental innovations are being piloted and implemented in recently built condominiums?  Many of the buildings erected in the last ten years are exponentially greener than their forebears – they consume less energy, produce less carbon, and feature more environmentally-friendly products like solar panels, wind turbines and green-rooftops.

From Toronto to Vancouver, New York to San Diego, Shanghai to Moscow, Berlin to Madrid, hundreds of millions of people live and prosper in condo buildings. At one time wonders of the world in their own right, The Empire State Building and the CN Tower have now been dwarfed by condos in Dubai, Kuwait, Japan and Buenos Aires, where residential buildings reach over one kilometre high.  Condominiums present opportunities for innovation in architecture, design and environmental technology that are seemingly endless.

In the pages that follow, you’ll find our feature story on Toronto’s architectural renaissance—Canada’s biggest city has been home to some of the most exciting developments in condo lifestyle.  Toronto is the perfect illustration of the reinvention of a city and the rejuvenation of both it’s arts and culture as well as it’s homes.

It’s never been a better time to make your residence an urban one, and to enjoy all the comforts, luxuries, indulgences and conveniences of condo life.
